Overview

This specialized panel measures key markers of bone formation and bone resorption—the two processes that determine your bone turnover rate.
Understanding these markers gives you and your TOC provider the data needed to evaluate bone loss risk, monitor treatment response, and track the effectiveness of your bone health plan over time.

Purchasing this panel does not include a 1:1 provider visit. Your purchase includes the labs with our standard lab interpretation and does not include a unique assessment.

Included Labs

🧬 Procollagen Type I Intact N-Terminal Propeptide (P1NP)

A marker of bone formation, reflecting the activity of osteoblasts (bone-building cells). Higher levels suggest active bone creation, while lower levels may indicate reduced bone-building activity—useful for assessing osteoporosis treatments or monitoring progress on a bone-strengthening plan.

🧪 Collagen Type I C-Telopeptide (CTX)

A marker of bone resorption, showing how much bone is being broken down by osteoclasts (bone-resorbing cells). Elevated CTX indicates increased bone breakdown, which may contribute to bone loss or osteoporosis. Lower CTX suggests slower turnover—a goal in many treatment strategies.

⚖️ P1NP/CTX Ratio

Assesses the balance between bone formation and resorption.

  • A higher ratio (more P1NP than CTX) = bone-building state.
  • A lower ratio (more CTX than P1NP) = bone-loss state.

This ratio provides valuable insight into your bone turnover status and how your body is responding to interventions.

Why This Matters

Bone density changes slowly, but bone turnover changes quickly—making these markers some of the earliest and most sensitive indicators of how well your bone health strategy is working.
Monitoring these results helps your TOC provider fine-tune your nutrition, supplement, and lifestyle approach to maintain stronger bones for life.
